WE UNDERSTAND
Virginia Beach City Public Schools understands that these are unique times. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has touched every aspect of life in Virginia Beach. Our students and their families are experiencing this situation in many different ways. Throughout this pandemic, VB Schools aspires to continue instruction for our students. But in today's high-tech learning environments, we understand that internet access can become difficult to afford as families are impacted by the economic effects of the pandemic. To help our community, VB Schools would like to tell you about several options for internet access:
INTERNET ACCESS SUGGESTIONS
LOCAL INTERNET ACCESS PROVIDERS
Selecting the right internet provider depends on what you need and what's available in your area. Virginia Beach is a large area with different options. Click on the button below to find out about available internet access options.
Note: Virginia Beach City Public Schools does not endorse any of the internet access options provided. We are simply providing information allowing you to make a more informed decision.
DATA PLANS ON SMARTPHONES
All major cell phone carriers have dramatically increased their data allowance for hotspot-capable smartphones. If you have a hotspot-capable smartphone, you may already have internet access available to you right now. Please check with your phone carrier for details on data limits.
WIFI AROUND SCHOOL BUILDINGS
VBCPS has extended Wi-Fi capability for school-issued devices around school buildings.
While making use of Wi-Fi around school buildings, students and families should be aware of the following guidelines:
Under no circumstances should students congregate around buildings. Students and families should continue to follow appropriate social distancing guidelines.
Individuals should not remain in school parking lots or on school grounds after dark.
If you are connecting to the Wi-Fi network while parked, please be sure to park in appropriate designated parking areas. Do not park in fire lanes.
Please be aware that all school facilities are monitored via security cameras. Security footage will be used to prosecute any unlawful activities.
If students are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network using school-issued devices, please contact the Department of Technology Customer Support Center at (757) 263-1111.

In order to qualify, a family must be enrolled in one of the approved government assistance programs (SNAP, TANF, NSLP, WIC, Head Start, LIHEAP, or Public Housing) or has a demonstrated need for internet access support. Qualified families may receive:
